Car Shipping Help
The following information is given as a guide to help you in shipping your car.
FOREIGN COLLECTION - We can arrange for your car to be collected from any point and delivered to our depot for shipment. Alternatively, costs can be saved if you deliver or arrange this yourself.
PRE-SHIPMENT - Cars are expertly prepared for shipment, but do not leave loose or easily removed items in the vehicle. The depot will complete a comprehensive condition report detailing any existing damage.
SHIPPING - This can be by either container or Roll on Roll off vessel. Please note that Roll on/Roll off shipping is only for driveable vehicles in good roadworthy condition.
SHIPPING LINES - We use only the most reliable shipping companies with regular sailings to and from the UK.
ARRIVAL IN THE UK - Unless otherwise stated in our quotation, containerised cars are cleared at our depot in Felixstowe. This normally takes 3 days and avoids delays at the port and additional expense. Cars shipping by Roll on Roll off vessels will have to be cleared at the port of arrival. This will also take 2 to 3 days. Once cars are cleared of customs, they must be collected within 3 days, otherwise additional charges of £10.00 per day will be incurred.
UK DELIVERY - If you wish, we can deliver your car either by Transporter or Trade Plate driver to any UK destination. Alternatively, you can arrange collection yourself.
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE - Customs clearance will be arranged by us on your behalf and all we require is a document of title, purchase invoice or bill of sale and a customs form. (A blank form will be supplied for you to complete once the vehicle is shipped). We will advise which Customs form you should complete, but in most cases this will be a C384.
DUTIES AND TAXES - Certain duties and taxes may be payable on your car but the amounts are dependent upon many factors. Some UK and EC manufactured vehicles may be exempt from duties and taxes but a manufacturer’s certificate will be required. We will be happy to advise individual requirements.
PAYMENT - Payment in full of all duties, taxes, freight and shipping costs must be made to us by Bankers Draft or cash by arrangement prior to delivery or collection of cars in the UK. For trade importers we can offer use of our Duty Deferment account. Details of this can be supplied on request.
INSURANCE – We strongly recommend that marine insurance is arranged to cover the vehicle throughout the journey. This will provide peace of mind that your vehicle is covered for any unforeseen eventuality. Our approved insurance brokers can offer an excellent policy at a very competitive premium.
We hope you find this information useful and we trust it has answered most of your questions but if there is something we have not covered, please do not hesitate to contact us.
